lenten groupA number of Lenten groups met each week throughout Lent to take time to prepare for Easter and to understand more deeply our individual relationship with the risen Lord. The “faith & life” program that we followed presented many opportunities to consider the gospel afresh and to explore new ways of reflecting on the presence of God in our lives. Each meeting was a prayerful and giving experience.

As a first-time Lenten group member I felt a little daunted by the unknown but, as is always the case at St Charles Borromeo, the group was warm and shared their understanding of faith openly. Our discussion opened me to other ways of seeing God through the insights and views of others so that I felt renewed and, sometimes, challenged.

The Lenten group also made possible stronger and new connections within the parish community. I now know a few more people to greet at Mass. My group celebrated Easter with a group dinner which our families also attended. It was a fun night and a lovely way to show our new connection.

On behalf of the members of all the Lenten groups, I wish to thank the leaders and people who shared their hearts and homes freely with us this year.
