Review of Young at Heart Bus trip to Radio Museum at Kurrajong |

 On Wednesday 21st September 2011, Young at Heart had a coach trip to the Radio Museum at Kurrajong.
It was a most interesting glimpse into the history of radio communications from the early 19th Century. Ian O’Toole, the owner of the Museum, (which receives no Government funding) is a very knowledgeable chap, having been intrigued with Radio since a ten year old, with his first crystal set.

Review of Young at Heart 7th Birthday Celebrations |

|
 On Saturday 23rd of October 2010, the 7th Birthday Luncheon of Young at Heart and a Reunion of the Tuckshop Mothers of St Charles Primary, dating back to the middle 50’s was held in Borromeo Hall.
Over 100 people were treated to a delicious meal after Fr Paul said grace.

Review of Young at Heart Trip to Camden Park |

On the 8th of September 2010, Young at Heart toured the beautiful gardens and homestead of John & Elizabeth Macarthur, Camden Park, which has been continuously occupied by the Macarthur Family since it was built in 1832.

Located in Forster NSW, the Island Palms Motor Inn was the venue for our Young at Heart Holiday this year.
Twenty 'Young at Hearters' travelled by XPT from Strathfield to Taree, then by special coach to the resort at Forster. One participant drove up, which was great for those who purchased wine. His boot was filled with “goodies” for the return journey!

A passionate care ministry set up within the St Charles community in 2003 to enable senior parishioners tominister to fellow seniors, is known as the Young at Heart Group.
A core group of members organise and oversee three luncheons per year, to which many frail and/or aged within the Parish are chauffeur driven to and from functions, and are heartily welcomed into the mainstream community.
Monthly outings are organised to places of interest for those seniors who are independently ambulant and able to use public transport.
The group has initiated a monthly picnic for our “Senior” seniors to visit local scenic venues. All these occasions are great social gatherings. All are welcome to join, in fact, “the more the merrier.”

Review of Young at Heart 2011 Holiday |

 On Wednesday 9th March 2011, fifteen members of Young at Heart assembled on Platform 3 at Strathfield Station to commence their journey to Ballina Byron Bay for the annual holiday. 5 members travelled by their own transport.
The next six days were spent enjoying the unique and cultural beauty of the coast and hinterland including visits to a Coffee Plantation, Twin Towns Club at Tweed Heads, Macadamia Castle and a hat making factory!

Review of Young at Heart Home Mass 2010 |

On Friday 10th of December 2010, St Charles Borromeo's Young at Heart Seniors Group gathered at the home of Marcella & Bill S to participate in a Home Mass celebrated by Fr Paul.
Fr spoke very warmly about the positive aspects of Young At Heart and prayers were offered for all those who have left us for, hopefully, a residence in Heaven.

On the morning of Wednesday 21st of April 2010, Sydney awoke to be shrouded in a thick fog, so heavy that early Rivercat trips along the Parramatta River were cancelled.
Luckily by 8:30am when the Young at Heart group had assembled at their meeting spot on the western side of the parish campus, the weather had turned into a glorious Autumn Day.

Young at Heart Celebrates its 6th anniversary and signs off 2009 in style! |

 The Young at Heart Committee celebrated its 6th Anniversary with a special Birthday Luncheon on 28th November 2009 in the Borromeo Hall.
Seventy happy seniors were entertained by our very own glamour girl, and ex-student of St Charles, Maria Venuti!
A delicious luncheon of Christmas fare followed, provided by our wonderful volunteers.
For the finale of 2009 Fr Paul celebrated Mass for our members and those recently departed, before partaking of another sumptuous feast.
Many thanks to the Stride family for providing the venue for this celebration on 9th December 2009.
We are all looking forward to another successful year in 2010! |
