Parish Pastoral Plan 2004-2008

A representative group of parishioners, together with a professional facilitator, met over a period of approximately 18 months to formulate the first St Charles Borromeo Ryde Parish Pastoral Plan. The Plan was presented to the Parish community for comment and was duly endorsed.

Interim Parish Advisory Committee

To ensure that the Pastoral Plan was put into place and able to achieve the Parish Mission and the Plan’s goals, a small group of parishioners (the Interim Parish Advisory Committee or IPAC) was then charged with developing a set of guidelines for the first St Charles Parish Pastoral Council. The IPAC also developed the process and facilitated the election of the Council members by the Parish community. The guidelines and election process were informed by the Handbook for Parish Pastoral Councils published by the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

First Parish Pastoral Council (Nov 2004 - Nov 2006)

Following a comprehensive and inclusive process, the first St Charles Borromeo Ryde Parish Pastoral Council was elected in early 2005 and comprised 13 members. The Council was broadly representative of the Parish community and included the Parish Priest, Fr Paul Monkerud. As per Council Guidelines, members would normally serve for a two-year term to ensure a regular infusion of fresh ideas and to provide the opportunity for as many parishioners as possible to participate in the process. Having elected a Chair and Secretary, the Council generally met monthly with regular reports to the Parish community as well as seeking out and receiving responses from the community.

Second Parish Pastoral Council (Nov 2006 - May 2008)

In late 2006 and again as per Council Guidelines, nominations were called from the Parish community and a further group of parishioners was elected to replace half of those in the first Council. As well as continuing the work of the first Council in promoting and realising the aims and objectives of the Parish Pastoral Plan 2004-2008, the Council commenced the task of formulating a second pastoral plan.

Third Parish Pastoral Council (May 2008 - June 2010)

Following the same process and procedure, the third Parish Pastoral Council was elected in early 2008. This Council completed the work on the new plan and it was presented to the Parish community for comment and endorsement. The Parish Pastoral Plan 2009-2013 now forms the basis of the work of the Council and provides the direction for the future.

Fourth Parish Pastoral Council (June 2010 - Current)

A set of fresh nominations and elections for the fourth Parish Pastoral Council took place in early 2010.

From this the fourth Parish Pastoral Council was elected in mid 2010. The Council's main aim is to be an enabling force to see through the implementation of the Parish Pastoral Plan.The members of the 3rd Parish Pastoral Council at St Charles Borromeo Ryde are:
