What does the Parish Pastoral Council do? |
|
|
|
The thrust of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is communication with and through the existing ministries of the Parish and to bring their work to the attention of the Parish via dissemination of publications such as the Parish Handbook, the Contact Card and the Introduction and Welcome Pack of literature for new parishioners.
As with peak bodies, its aim is to stimulate participation of parishioners, to interpret surveys and research such as the Parish survey results as part of the general church survey, to identify gaps and needs and to promote pastoral dimensions as well as providing practical support. |

The role of the Parish Pastoral Council is to consult with our Parish Priest in an effort to realise the aspirations of the Parish – in other words, to facilitate the Mission of the Parish.
The council enables parishioners to have an immediate and important involvement in the affairs of their Parish.
It works to improve communication and dialogue between individuals, groups and ministries and in doing so, provides the Parish with access to the leadership skills of a broad range of people.
The council allows the Parish Priest to exercise his own special ministry more effectively because he is less encumbered by important but not core demands.
Members of the Parish Pastoral Council aim to help parishioners better know and understand the mission of their Parish, so that it can be more stable and resilient in times of change.
The council encourages the community of St Charles to express ideas and suggestions in writing by providing a Comments Form available in the church. These are then considered by the council at its monthly meetings. |
