The children of the St. Charles community often participate in Procession of Gifts ceremonies during Mass, but this very important ministry is the first opportunity for many of them to actively serve the Parish.

Altar Servers learn in some detail about the significance of various components of the Mass byworking in a team environment and being guided by Senior Altar Servers and/or Ministers of the Altar.

Altar Servers were previously known as altar boys but the ministry is now open to all Parish children aged 8-9 years, generally after they make their First Holy Communion. Girls and boys serve at Masses approximately twice a month on a roster suitable to their parents and the Parish encourages them to later progress to senior Altar Service.
