The Children’s Liturgy takes place each Sunday at the 10.00am Mass.
At the beginning of the service Father calls all attending children to the Altar and presents them with the Lectionary or a book of readings, the Sacramental Candle and a Crucifix.
Children then file out with their Liturgy Team Leaders to a separate room where they read the Gospel of the day and discuss it at their own level of understanding. This segment of their activities often concludes with a prayer or the acting out of the gospel story.
The children re-enter the Mass at the Procession of Gifts and take up the bread and wine on behalf of the community. They then return to their parents.
Children’s Liturgy is not held when the Mass is a Family Mass. The Children’s Liturgy Team is quite large so that two people are able to be present at each session.
